Cheater's Cloth Straight Furrows Quilt: Ca. 1880; Pa. This is a most unusual Cheater's Cloth fabric done with whimsical detail of the printed embroidery. Three panels are set side by side to effectively create a Straight Furrows arrangement. Unwashed condition. Pennsylvania origin: circa 1880. Measures 79" x 88"; $450.
Roman Stripe Quilt; Dated 1897 This is a rarely seen pattern made more distinctive by the name and date of 1897. Made of silk and satins. Six of the large black triangles have some cracking as well as several of the small strips. They could be stabilized with appropriate netting or left as is. They are not likely to worsen if the quilt is used as a hanging. Border is beautifully worked with feather quilting. Measures 66" x 76"; signed and dated 1897.
