From the first census in 1790 showing approximately 3.9 million people in the new country to the latest census it is so important to check all the censuses available for information about your ancestors. Here is an interesting online site to see who else has your surname in the world. Excellent for locating surnames while doing your familytree and genealogy research.

If you think genealogy Facebook groups are only in the U.S., chuck that idea out the window.  They are in many, many other countries as well.  This blog  (1 of Family Tree Magazine's Top 40 in 2013) lists all the Facebook Pages in the Province of Ontario. Keep in mind that many in Colonial America were Loyalist, & either removed to Canada for the duration &  returned, or became Canadian. You may need these pages!

The Ontario Genealogical Society is made up of 33 branches and SIGs, and besides their web pages, many of them also have their own Facebo.
