Many Moons by James Thurber and illustrated by Louis Slobodkin won the 1944 Caldecott for its brilliant illustrations and silly story. Princess Lenore has fallen ill of "a surfeit of raspberry tarts," and will only get well again if she can have the moon. But can she get the moon? In true Thurber style, this story will make both kids and adults laugh out loud. We give it an eager five stars!
