Alex Steinweiss record album designs: Paganini 1950; Beethoven 1956; Rachmaninoff 1950; Beethoven/Gieseking 1950. Widely regarded as the inventor of the modern graphic record album sleeve, Steinweiss's designs can be identified by his signature handwritten typeface, known colloquially as the "Steinweiss Scrawl." He was active in design until his death in 2011.
