I gotta get to Masada one day. An amazing story exists behind it where Jewish rebels held against Roman Legions for months and months at this stronghold. Roman legions eventually took Masada by building an amazingly engineered ramp to breach the walls. However upon storming Masada, they found the Jewish rebels had committed suicide. One of my boys, visiting Egypt and Israel said it is a sight to see!!!
Mount Zion today is the location of King David's Tomb and the Upper Room, but in the biblical periods, Mount Zion was the name of the hill on the other side of town where the temple stood. The name moved after the 1st century to the city's Western Hill. This area was home to the wealthy during Jesus' lifetime.
