MBI member Hayes Modular Group's Downtown Waco student loft project will mix new, historic architecture: "The rectangular modular units, complete with interior drywall, flooring, sinks and granite countertops, are built in a factory then assembled onsite. Once complete, the building should look like conventional onsite construction, Hayes said."

MBI member Ramtech Building Systems has completed work on four new modular buildings placed at the site of the temporary school campus established by the Van (TX) Independent School District in the wake of the damage incurred from the EF3 tornado that went through the city in May. The modular school buildings were configured as restrooms and will be used by the district's 2nd and 3rd grade students who have been relocated from the damaged J.E Rhodes elementary school.

During 2012, the U.S. Census Bureau reports that construction activity totaled $225 billion in the lodging, office, commercial, healthcare, educational and religious building categories. According to the Modular Building Institute, an industry trade association based in Charlottesville, Va., modular buildings comprised 1.3 percent of this activity.
