Whynne Bassett-Lowke was an Edwardian entrepreneur who manufactured replica machines and model railways. Starting in his early 20s, Lowke went on to make millions creating immaculately engineered collectibles for the pre-First World War middle and upper classes. He was a Fabian, an Arts & Crafts advocate and a patron of Charles Rennie Mackintosh, who designed some of his early promotional materials and his house and interiors.
