10-22-13 White House meeting with insurance chiefs ~ The White House is meeting with CEOs of health plans on Wednesday, according to two insurance industry sources. The insurance executives are meeting with Obama adviser Valerie Jarrett and chief of staff Denis McDonough. The White House didn’t immediately confirm the meeting. Insurers have a lot riding on the success of Obamacare enrollment — which is being stymied by pervasive technical problems with the federal website, HealthCare.gov.

The judiciary has withdrawn its medical insurance scheme for all judges and junior staff over alleged misuse of funds.In a memo seen by the Star, it informed its staff that it has terminated its services with the Jubilee Insurance Company and will look for an alternative by November.According to the memo dated October 3, the decision was taken after a meeting between judiciary’s chief registrar Anne Amadi and officials of an association grouping judicial staff.

The Manchester Village Council voted to increase salaries for village employees, at their bi-weekly meeting Sept. 17. They also heard a presentation about the new transit authority and discussed holiday decorations.    Village staff will receive a 1.8 percent pay raise, retroactive to the start of the budget year, July 1. Council President Pat Vailliencourt said they had not received a compensation increase in the previous two years, and they have made concessions on their insurance.
