Clocking in at a mere 5mm long, Brachys ovatus is a very colorful species, but you'd never notice until you got this close - to the naked eye it almost seems like these tiny beetles are dirt or frass mimics.    This specimen came from the collections of the Massachusetts Wasp Watchers, a project where volunteers monitor native non-stinging wasps and collect their prey to check if the wasps are finding invasive species, including the Emerald Ash Borer.
