Healthy Sleep Habits Go to bed at the same time each night and wake up at the same time in the morning. Avoid napping during the day, if possible. Avoid caffeine and nicotine after 11 a.m. Avoid alcohol Exercise daily (preferably before 11 a.m.) but do not exercise too close to bedtime (3-4 hours before bed), as this can stimulate you and keep you awake
