Lallybroch, also known as Broch Tuarach, is the small estate which belonged to Brian and Ellen Fraser, and whose ownership passed to Jamie Fraser after his father's death. According to Jamie, the land is fairly rich and offers opportunity for fishing and hunting. Lallybroch supports about sixty crofts, as well as the small village, Broch Mordha. Jamie's family home is the manor house on the estate.
This new photo released today shows us what Doune Castle looks like Outlander-fied as Castle Leoch with villagers and highlanders out front. The morning light and the slight mist/fog gives it an eerie and historical feel. Castle Leoch Doune
In the television adaptation, of OUTLANDER, Doune Castle was used as the exterior of the fictional Castle Leoch. Production designers used molds of the architecture at Doune Castle to build sets at the studio, where the interior castle shots were filmed. (Doune Castle may look familiar to fans of Monty Python and the Holy Grail. The castle was used extensively during the filming of the 1974 movie.)
