Medieval Manuscript Leaf with a Large Illuminated Initial "S" from a Fifteenth Century Antiphonal: "Spiritus domini replevit orbem terrarus..." Introit for Pentecost, Whitsunday Mass. France: circa 1480. Double sided vellum leaf. Approximately 6.75 x 9.5 inches. Recto: Large initial "S" in blue and white on a gold ground bordered in red with strawberry plants. Eight four line staves in red with black notes and black gothic text with two smaller gilt initials and some text in red.
