Last week I ventured further east on Houston Street than I usually do and found myself at Russ and Daughters again, after too many years. I went inside and—after lots of sampling and for old times’ sake— ordered a quarter pound each of several kinds both herring and salmon.     I took my bounty home and ate most of it for lunch in one sitting. One fish was better than the next but I think my three favorites may have been the Smoked Wild Western Nova, the Gravlax and the Smoked Sturgeon.
