I found this free pattern in Ravelry, the Celtic Afghan pattern by Lion Brand Yarn. I ordered 20 skeins of Bernat Chunky yarn and the biggest crochet hook I could find! All this to satisfy my need for a big knitted cabled blanket.
I haven't looked at the pattern yet but if each "row" is actually three rows, I would do the double crochet row in brown the second row in white and the third row in red. that way they looked like little cupcakes! <3
This free crochet afghan pattern is especially unique because it actually resembles a quilt. The Dresden Plate Throw, also sometimes called Grandmother's Sunburst, is made with the advanced crocheter in mind. Use Red Heart yarn for this pattern from Coats & Clark.
