A BLUE AND WHITE BOTTLE VASE CIRCA 1640 the compressed globular body rising from a straight foot to a waisted knopped neck, painted in bright tones of cobalt-blue with eight scholars engaged in conversation and various literati pursuits, accompanied by attendants in a landscape with plantain, trees and rocks, all between a floral scroll at the shoulder and a lappet band at the base, the tall neck with stylised tulip sprays divided by lappet bands at the knop H. 38.1cm.
LARGE IMPORTANT ANTIQUE CHINESE MING DYNASTY BLUE AND WHITE MEIPING VASE A large and important vase dating to the late 16th century and finely decorated in underglaze blue. The exterior is hand painted with a continuous landscape scene depicting birds flying. Detail is excellent. The top tapers to a short and flared neck accented with leaves. It stands on a hand cut foot revealing a fine paste. The vase stands an impressive 16.75 inches (42.5 cm) tall and is heavily potted.
