Who Are You? In order to be able to understand other people we need to be able to understand ourselves. I think I have a pretty good grasp on who I am as a person because I have become obsessed with getting to know myself better. I know this seems like a funny statement but …
Marvelous M's Simple and yummy way for students to get to know each other! Each M candy represents something different and then the students could either share with a group or you could share as a whole class. Another great thing with this ice breaker is, you can make the food whatever you want (ex. have options, make it healthy, etc.)
I guarantee you America would have a less jingoistic, less xenophobic populace overall if this sort of information were actually reported to us. If we weren’t always fed the lie of helping the world without any gratitude or help in return. If the media didn’t present us as world police and instead as a part of the community, as other countries try hard to include us as, then maybe Americans would actually act like they’re part of a fucking community.
This is a wonderful book for helping your students understand bar graphs. For those classes who are already familiar with graphing, it can also be used as a fun getting to know you activity at the beginning of the year. It makes a cute class book, and is a great way for the students to learn about each other while graphing!
I love this idea to help the kids get to know each other better. I think I am going to do this at the beginning of the school year! (scheduled via http://www.tailwindapp.com?utm_source=pinterest&utm_medium=twpin&utm_content=post7049250&utm_campaign=scheduler_attribution)
People Bingo is not only a fun activity but also a great way to get students up and moving during the first week of school to get to know one another! I use this game to help build my classroom community. Enjoy! Katie
A great beginning of the year activity to get to know your students! This would make a great activity for the first week of school or as something to showcase on Open House / Back to School night! You are learning about your students and they get to learn more about each other! It's also a creative way for students to set goals, express their favorites, and have something to look back on for their school year in your grade.
Neat idea for students to make to describe themselves/ their daily lives, and then use as plan/ map for writing activities! ....Follow for Free "too-neat-not-to-keep" teaching tools & other fun stuff :)
Have students create this "get to know you" activity during the first week of school! This download includes two different style pennants. Hang them next to each other or on a string to make a banner for your classroom or the hallway. Laminate after your students complete this activity, for more durability.
