Piri Piri Sauce-- a sauce with some history: Its primary ingredient, a particular hot chile, comes from the New World via the Portuguese, who brought it to their colonies of Mozambique and Angola. This fiery, fragrant sauce is equally common in Portugal and Africa these days, and goes wonderfully with grilled fish or shrimp.

I have the recipe for this "jumbleberry crumble" in one of Nigella Lawson's cookbooks. I've made it many times and usually have a baggie of the crumble and frozen berries in my freezer since it's a quick and easy dessert. And delicious--so delicious in fact that my mother has actually made up a little song and dance that she performs everytime I announce that I'll be making it.
