Patsy Mink was Congresswoman from Hawaii from 1965-77, and 1990-2002. She was the first woman of color elected to Congress. Her greatest achievement was the passage of the Title IX Amendment of the Higher Education Act, which was named the Patsy T. Mink Equal Opportunity in Education Act in her honor. She died 10 years ago, on September 28, 2002.
