The Lillian Goldman Fountain of Life in front of the LuEsther T. Mertz Library at the New York Botanical Garden. Completed in 1905, it was designed by Carl E. Tefft, and depicts a bronze sculpture of  a cherub next to a dolphin on top of a globe, and a pair of web-footed horses being restrained by two humans, as a mermaid and merman watch from the basin below. The fountain underwent a major renovation and was reopened in 2005.
