WHEN ANIMALS MOURN : The breadth and depth of animal grief. "Writing this book often moved me profoundly; through reading the science literature, conducting interviews with experienced animal caretakers, I came to understand at a new, visceral level just how extensively animals feel their lives. Elephants grieve. Great apes and cetaceans (such as dolphins) grieve. So do horses and rabbits, cats and dogs, even some birds."

From Dianne Shapiro's Humane Trophies comes this little bear head to hang on the wall. She made every animal imaginable in both large and small sizes, including bison, elephants, and even chickens, but the bear, with its simple, huggable shape, was the most popular. Dentists attending the Yankee Dental Congress used to come into my store and buy six or seven animal heads to hang on their office walls to make the atmosphere a bit friendlier LOL!
Bubbles, a 32 year old African elephant hit it off quite well with a 3 year old Labrador retriever named Bella. Both animals live together at Myrtle Beach Safari, South Carolina. Bubbles is a rescued orphan elephant, while Bella is an abandoned pooch

I asked, "if you could be any animal in the world, what would it be?" I already knew my answer, so imagine my surprise when it was the same as his. And for the same reason. They are pack animals. The stay with the same elephants, throughout their life, and they show genuine love. Plus they are smart and have great memories. #soulmates
