Tree ferns proliferate in the interior of the Hawaiian rain forest. Feral hogs, however, destroy the native ferns by digging up their roots. Conservation organizations have responded by removing the hogs and other exotics from these protected sites.
In Ohiopyle State Park the Youghiogheny River pulls a 180 and drops over 100 feet in the maneuver. The result is some of the best white water in the east. The brave (or foolhardy) plunge kayaks over the falls.
