German photographer Martin Klimas is fascinated by the effect of gravity on things: falling objects, porcelain smashing on the ground, or in this case, paint leaping into the air. For this project Klimas arranged paint in various colours on top of speaker diaphragms. When the music – by Paul Hindemith, Carl Orff, Karlheinz Stockhausen – was turned on, the paint began to vibrate and leap animatedly into the air. These photographs illustrate the vibrant movement and energy inherent to music.
