READ ME: 1. There are many types of variegation (chimeral, pigmentary) but almost all of them have many layers of color. It is safe to say that you should paint from light values to dark, almost in a style of a heat map. 2. Reference picture(s) = best friend. Observe, notice details and try to copy it. Sometimes I use 2-3 reference pictures for one illustration: one for shape of a leaf, another for variegation, etc. 3. Have a shaky hand! Don’t try to paint with precision, natural-looking spot
