THURSDAY, June 21, 2012 - Long-term Treasury yields are falling. The Federal Reserve on Wednesday said it would extend “Operation Twist,” its effort to spur investment by driving down long-term interest rates. Yields on the 30-year U.S. Treasury bond are at 2.7%, down from about 4.5% when the recession ended. But yields are down only slightly since the Fed began its effort in October.
