V-2 Rocket at Wargrave Photograph from Reading Chronicle Collection - February 1945 The V-2 Rocket, was the world's first long distance ballistic missile engineered by Nazi Germany during the Second World War. Its targets were largely London and later Antwerp in Belgium. A V-2 aimed at London, landed off course in rural Wargrave in Berkshire. It caused extensive damage to cottages it hit and the surrounding area.
