The Calvert Canvas: Adventures in Middle School Art!: Colorful Chameleons Next, students blended oil pastels to fill in the bodies of the reptiles. They used analogous colors (those which are next to each other on the color wheel) that were in the same warm or cool color family and later added the opposite, naturally contrasting color family to their background using a "wet on wet" watercolor wash.
Falling Through Space 5th grade - instructions : My students start by tracing their hands and feet. After this, they draw their head, neck, arms, and legs. I then have my students outline everything in black marker and color with oil pastels. Next, I have them cut the entire thing out, and glue it to large black paper. Stars and planets are drawn with oil pastels.
