Indian culture is rich with the skilful and artful defining of shapes through sculpture & the otherwise carving of stone. The Kutub Minar, Delhi, a Muslem centre of worship known for both its towering "minar(et)" & a metal column that has – inexplicably – never rusted over hundreds of years, is a wonderful example of the way that Muslim art is expressed through the use of geometrical shapes, calligraphy and relief-work. © Claude Avézard, All Rights Reserved. stockphotomall.com

This is a typical saree shop in Kinari Bazaar, the wedding market. You have to take off shoes and sit. I think sarees probabaly range from Rs 2000 to Rs 10000, with average around Rs 3000. The best approach is to visit at least 5-6 shops, check prices, compare goods, then you get a sense of what things are worth. Don't buy in the first shop you visit. Go with a local if you can. Many shops are even smaller than this. Blingy sarees can be very tacky if they are less than Rs 2000 IMHO.
