I really enjoyed taking part in Kids Get Arty last month, hosted by Red Ted Art. This month we've been inspired by Georges Seurat and painting with dots. There are lots of examples all over the web so it's not my original idea, we chose to use cotton buds to paint with. I began the artwork on a sheet of thin blue card, as I (quite rightly) guessed that Harry wouldn't have the patience to cover the entire thing in dots and blue was the dominant colour. I drew an outline of the main areas in pencil and then helped him to fill in the areas with dots using the cotton bud dipped in paint. The artwork that we were inspired by is called The Seine Seen from La Grande Jatte and you can see the original here. It's one of the paintings which I visit if I have chance to pop into the National Gallery in London. I'm quite pleased with our interpretation!
