I love making simple beanies. Besides the fact that they are SO fast, they are great for charity projects. There are tons of great ways to give back using newborn beanie hats. Hospitals use them in their OB wards (I still have the homemade beanies my sons wore home from the hospital!). Or how about
A knitting pattern to make a Cupcake Hat Set, comprising, Hat, Mittens and Boots, all are made using 4 ply yarn and I have added beads to the Hat and Mitts. The pattern is for size 18-20 inch Reborn Doll/0-3 months baby. Full instructions are given for threading beads onto yarn and incorporating them into the pattern
This is hands down the best men's hat pattern out there. It's easy, free, and uses a single skein of yarn. I've made four out of Noro Silk Garden and see the recipients wearing them all over town. Just finished one in Cascade's Eco Duo and it's delicious.
