SPRING LAKE, in Lamb Co. Texas ... now dry and filled with sediment, the depression in the distance was once a 7 spring fed lake. On the dry Panhandle plains of Texas, it was an oasis for Indians and the buffalo that once came to water. Large Indian camp is situated here. In 1870s, hunters slaughtered buffalo here. In 1882, Tom Lynch drove cattle herds here from New Mexico. Later became headquarters of largest division of the XIT Ranch. (1936)
