A wall dividing the kitchen and breakfast area was removed, uniting the two spaces and making both brighter and more open. The new eating area features an L-shaped banquette, with storage under the benches and room for additional chairs at the table. White paint on trim and table lightens the look of an all-wood kitchen. Wall color of soft yellow picks up the warm undertone of the wood. The wood top on the white serving counter ties it to the cabinets.
Banquettes are, in our opinion, one of the best uses of small dining spaces. They take advantage of every square inch of available room, hold tons of people and can be used for lounging any old time of day.
