Maine Milky Way Panorama | James: "On the evening/morning of May 17/18, 2012 I set out on an ambitious project. A four frame mosaic of the southern Milky Way. The project was executed from my dark sky home in Maine. The exposures had to be long enough to record with fidelity, but short enough to allow consecutive frames as the earth rotated the field from ideal view. Exposures began with each field prior to culmination at the meridian."
This is an example of Mosaic Art that uses tile and grouting. This is the type of art I chose to do for my final project. Mosaics are fascinating because the tiles always seem to fit so nicely together even though they are separate pieces and the way artists get the tiles to fade in and out of shades of the same color, in this case blue, must be very challenging. I was excited to try my hand at mosaic art.
