Z is a 1969 French language political thriller directed by Costa Gavras, with a screenplay by Gavras and Jorge Semprún, based on the 1966 novel of the same name by Vassilis Vassilikos. The film presents a thinly fictionalized account of the events surrounding the assassination of democratic Greek politician Grigoris Lambrakis in 1963.
I did not know what to expect from Russian film Viy 1967 but I was pleasantly surprised at the interesting little tale that it presented. Granted the film is not on par with the films of today but it does manage its own weird charm. If you enjoyed The Wizard of Oz or H. R. Pufnstuf as a child, you should enjoy this tale of witches & the supernatural. Viy is aimed at a more mature audience than the aforementioned film & TV show but they all share witches that I found creepy & entertaining.
