I like how this cover replaces a letter with the design part. They did a good job of connecting what the letter i looks like in the man and the burnt spot. Your mind makes that connection. Plus, I like how the man isn't the same x-height as the word liar. He still makes the i but is his own piece in the design that stands out slightly. The words "A Novel" are less bold and almost has less opacity which helps the other two important pieces of information to be what you read first.
