Marine Maj Jay T. Aubin, 36, of Waterville, Maine. Died March 21, 2003, serving during Operation Iraqi Freedom. Assigned to Marine Aviation Weapons and Tactics Squadron 1, 3rd Marine Aircraft Wing, Marine Corps Air Station Yuma, Arizona. Died of injuries sustained when the CH-46E Sea Knight helicopter he was piloting developed mechanical problems and crashed in Kuwait while ferrying U.S. and British Marines toward the combat zone in Iraq.

Winds gusts of 66 mph most probably caused a retired F-16 to flip onto another F-16 at Davis-Monthan AFB, Arizona. F-16ADF (MM7248 formerly leased to the Italian AF) and F-16C 84-1246 “LF”, both kept in storage by the 309th Aerospace Maintenance and Regeneration Group (AMARG) at the local “Boneyard,” were involved in the incident.
