Romanov Archives - 1917 Interrogation of Anna Vyroubova. Anna Vyroubova was the Empress' best friend and shel lived in a cottage near the Alexander Palace. Though she was arrested and interrogated, she managed to escape revolutionary Russia in 1920 and fled to Helsinki, Finland. Everntually she became an Orthodox nun and died at the age of 80 in Helsinki.
