The Botanical Prints of Pierre-Joseph Redouté (1759-1840)

From Choix des Plus Belles Fleurs by Pierre-Joseph Redouté this image shows Magnolia x soulangiana, also known as the saucer magnolia. The restrained palette calls to mind Redouté's rendering of a white Camellia japonica, which appears in the same work.

Peonies by Pierre Joseph Redout, 1835. When I have my library, which I am allowed to decorate any way I want to (as Jeff is his media room), I want this type of biological/Audobon-style prints.

"The unmistakable posters of Pierre Mendell (1929, Essen – 2008, Munich) are, even today, the subject of international attention; Mendell is considered one of the world’s leading graphic designers. His large-scale graphic compositions, their clear and striking colors, their somewhat abstract formal vocabulary and their distinctive typography display electrifying vigor on the advertising columns and billboards of the city."
