JD McPherson's debut album, "Signs and Signifiers," is, in a word, phenomenal. Each song is drenched in old-school rockabilly fun, with groovy hooks, gritty vocals, and dirty sax solos. It's been a long time since something musically different has come along, and this is a total breath of fresh air. Even the recording equipment was all vintage, and it shows. If these songs don't get your backside shaking, perhaps you should take your pulse because you may just be dead. Gold stars and "A+"s!
