Meursault loved himself. He satisfied his wants and needs. He knew it was not selfish to make his happiness a priority. It was necessary, so why does everyone crucify him for how he lived his life?? The misunderstanding about Meursault is that he was not selfish. He did not live life to screw everyone else. He simply geared his life toward fulfilling his self! What society had a hard time grasping was that this was not bad.
