Support for those struggling through a mental illness. It isn't a sign of weakness. It actually takes an immense amount of strength to live with one. Please do not minimize or brush off the difficulty and struggle that comes with mental illness.
Depressed brain- Depression isn’t just something you can “snap out of.” I think people find depression as some sort of personal weakness, and that people with depression just have to be more grateful or positive. They might get a lot of “your life isn’t that bad, it could be worse” speeches, but that’s not just what depression is about, and it definitely isn’t that easy to get over
Labeling: Mental illness is definitely something labeled in society. Sometimes people refer to individuals with mental illness as being "mentally retarded" or "psycho." People may label these individuals as "less of a person" than a person without a mental illness. These labels go on and on, like things such as "crazy", "mad", "stupid", etc. People may also consider these individuals as a danger to society if they are not medicated, hospitalized, or are in public without proper supervision.
