Jihadist militants have seized a monastery in northern Iraq, expelling its monks and other residents in a mounting purge against the country’s Christian community. Forces from the al-Qaeda splinter group, Islamic State of Iraq and al-Sham (Isis), stormed Saint Behnam, a 4th-century monastery run by the Syriac Catholic church, forcing the monks to flee at gunpoint.
