Website Design

For this assignment, i am required to apply a strong identity or brand to a portfolio website/promotional site for the short film i have made for my major project for my 2nd year in college. I will mainly be looking at websites which have been designed with the purpose of promoting film, in particular shorts. I will then apply the information I have gathered to my own ideas for the site.

As with my previous pin, the site for "Manakai" is eye-catching and clearly documents the film's production - in this case the "making of Manakai".
Strong use of film stills and an easy-to-follow homepage, the site for "Manakai" is close to what i have envisioned for my own website.
Nouveaux posters issus de la campagne virale de PROMETHEUS - Critique Film
Similar to my previous pin, this section of the promotional site for "Prometheus" works to deepen the universe in which the film is set. While it differs greatly from my short film in terms of theme and style, it is an approach to website the design and film marketing which appeals to me.
New HTML5 'Prometheus' Training Center Shows Off Power of the Web
Site not only promotes the film "Prometheus", but works to further enrich it's lore./ Presentation is clean and suitably futuristic to match the setting of the film. This has inspired me to do the same with my own film.
Open Road Films
Wide range of colours and film stills jump off the screen. Choice of still sparks intrigue within the onlooker.
ManvsMachine
Strong use of the three colour scheme once again, nicely showcases stills from the film. Use of colour and choice of imagery appropriately represents the film's themes (in particular "Alien") of fear and danger.

Simiar to the previous pin, this 3 colour scheme breaks away from convention by using white, green, turquois. Easy on the eye, relaxing energy.

Different style of 3 colour sceme, navy, light blue, purple. Still effective but less striking. Softer, easier on the eye.
Caterpillar
Very striking, yellow may be too invasive but 3 primary colour scheme proves effective still.
