This project involved development of two entirely new sports field and natural turf cricket block from a green field site.  Services provided including input into the design and layout of the playing field platforms, specification of all works including irrigation and overseeing implementation.  The fields have been in use for several years now and have consistently provided the highest quality playing surfaces despite very high use demands.

Yarrow stadium was selected as a venue for the 2011 Rugby World Cup. The field required redevelopment in order to meet the prescribed World Cup Standards. NZSTI provided a feasibility study, specification and construction observation for the redevelopment.

In preparation for the 2011 Rugby World Cup, Nelson City Council needed to redevelop the rugby pitch at Trafalgar Park in Nelson.  NZSTI’s role was to prepare the specifications and oversee the construction works.  The rugby pitch was redeveloped into a sand carpet utilising recycled glass sand, an eco-friendly alternative to river-dredged sand. The use of recycled glass sand for a winter sports pitch construction was a world first.

NZSTI completed an assessment of sports fields at Hamilton Boys High School was able to tailor a drainage solution to their budget and expectations. The drainage specifications were prepared, which enabled the installation of drainage into six fields to be staged over several years.  NZSTI provided project observations during installation and our lab, quality assurance for materials used.
