Nicola Young Art on Instagram: "Day 11 #insightcreative30daychallenge2024, ‘My Sketchbook is my Sidekick’ I have to say over the past 18 months I have started to use my sketchbook in all sorts of ways that I didn’t previously. When I started working in sketchbooks they were messy capturing of anything that interested me but after watching videos and looking at pictures of other artists books I started to pay more attention (too much attention) to how they looked. I have a few pristine books where instead of working directly on the page I’ve pasted in works on paper and if I did paint directly I made sure the edges were all taped up to give me that crisp border. They look great but it took all the joy and experimentation away. I think there is a role for these in capturing compositions
