an elegant kitchen with marble counter tops
Fendalton House Vl - Lume Design
An essay in materiality, the Fendalton House VI seeks to embody our clients love of both contemporary and traditional design details. Unexpected combinations are brought together through an underlying softness in the palette. Throughout the home, ornate detailing is used to bring depth to form, and create an inviting warmth within spacious, open-plan living areas. Striking use of brass, bluestone and marble form a welcoming remark. A layering of texture and hue is explored in each bedroom, and the bathrooms feature unique tile combinations paired with luxe hardware. Steel-framed, glass pivot doors facilitate a connection between indoor and outdoor. Intricately luxurious as it is practical, the home is one of discovery.

We provided a design solution for the entire home, including materials, colours, lighting, flooring and custom designed furniture. Our approach was ‘sympathetically modern’, with high-end contemporary finishes and bold design statements befitting the flow and feel of a classic home. Highlights include a beautiful herring bone floor, a sculptural kitchen island in contrasting stones, and woven bronze joinery panels. The overall interplay between rich, warm tones, statement lighting and features, and hard or soft surfaces give this home an elegant and inviting appeal.

North Canterbury House
Natural materials and a connected approach bring this potentially austere rural home into the realm of comfort and warmth. Designed as series of built forms, the challenge was to create an intimate habitat while honouring the home’s angular volumes and the clients’ desire for a clean, European look. To achieve the balance we created a sleek, foldaway kitchen, paired the polished concrete floor with chocolate-toned cabinetry and wall panelling throughout the home, and sourced bespoke furniture in dusky colours and textures. From panoramic views to hidden doors, geometric lines to voluptuous curves, the effect is one of both contrast and cohesion — a home that is at once elegantly restrained and generously inviting.

Huntsbury House - Lume Design
This striking new build required a top-to-toe solution. Taking inspiration from the sleek and minimalist architectural style, we created a mostly-monochromatic interior to match. Organic textures, artful lighting and venetian plastered walls lend a subtle warmth to the home’s pared back aesthetic. The drama of the building is honoured by bold design statements, including a 4m neolith kitchen island with waterfall ends, and an elevated, folded steel staircase that greets visitors from the front entrance. Our full treatment – including complete custom interiors, lighting, furniture and interior/exterior colours – ensures that this elevated suburban home is a true master of its domain.

Light, crisp colours and natural flourishes lend a feeling of serenity and calm to this full townhouse renovation. On our clients’ wishlist was a ‘coastal vibe’ and relaxed, timeless interior. Taking our cues from Australia’s seaside homes, we brightened the space with light oak timber floors, soft stone and neutral tones. Furthermore, we realigned the ceiling levels so that they were all one height; a design solution that created greater cohesion and a much more spacious feel. Every home deserves a talking point, and in this case our inclusion of internal steel frame doors with reeded glass offers a unique and interesting feature, while also providing the function of separating the entrance from the living/dining space within.
