Koru - a symbol of Maori art mimicking the fiddlehead of new ferns. It symbolizes new life, growth, development, and peace. The circular shape of the koru helps to convey the idea of perpetual movement while the inner coil suggests a return to the point of origin.

Twin children Luisa requested a simple symbol that could represent the love and protection she and her husband have for their newborn twin children. We thought of the unfolding fern buds, or korus, as they symbolize a new growing life, and life continuing in our children when designed with a smaller koru growing from a bigger one. Mirroring two of such fronds we got a heart, a symbol of love, where the two parents ideally embrace the two newborn babies.

Tattoo idea - two parents, two children, one heart. -I love this! I'd have to creatively add one more swirl in there for my third baby.
