The story of this poem is fitting. It was written by an American who went to England to fly for the British before the US got into WWII. While testing a "new" Spitfire V he came upon the inspiration to write this poem which he later sent to his family. They never heard him say it in person... At the age of 19 he was killed when his plane and another crashed in the clouds. While this accident did not occur in the clouds I think the poem is fitting all the same. HIGH FLIG...
