Strength training doesn't make you "bulky", and for women it won't make you "manly". This type of training burns more total calories up to 48 hours post training than cardio; focuses on fat loss and lean muscle growth/retention. Cardio decreases weight including muscle mass, and mainly only burns the calories used for time of training only. Not saying to ditch cardio, but do strength training just as much if not more.
