Depth Perception: Monocular Cues •Relative motion- as we move objects that are stable may appear that they are moving
Depth Perception: Monocular cues •Light and shadow- nearby objects reflect more light to our eyes, dimmer seems farther.
Perceptual Constancy: •Shape size constancy- sometimes an object whose actual shape cannot change seems to change shape with the angle of our view
Depth Perception: Monocular cues •Interposition- if one object partially blocks our view of another, we perceive it as closer.
Depth Perception: Binocular Cues •Retinal disparity perceiving depth by comparing imagines from the retinas in two eye. the greater disparity between the two images, the closer the object.
The Gateway Arch — Its History and Architecture (St. Louis, Missouri)
Illusions: •St. Louis gateway arch
Depth Perception: Monocular Cues •Relative size- if we assume two objects are similar in size, most people perceive the one that casts the smaller retinal image as farther away
Depth Perception: Monocular Cues •Relative height- we perceive objects higher in our visual field as father away.
Motion Perception: •Phi phenomenon an illusion of movement created when two or more adjacent lights blink on and off in quick succession
Depth Perception: Monocular cues •Linear perspective- parallel lines, like railroad tracks, appear to converge with distance. the more they converge, the greater their perceived distance.

Perceptual Constancy: •Color constancy
Perceptual Constancy: •Lightness constancy-when we perceive an object lighter or darker due to its surrounding context or how much light the object reflects
