I have returned from my (almost annual) research trip to the Roman fort of Vindolanda in Northumberland, and to be honest, I hadn't realised how cold England's Northumberland would be in April!!! I shudder to think how the Romans survived without thermal underwear and waterproof over trousers! It was COLD! Experiencing that cold will certainly be dictating how the rest of the Ithaca time travel trilogy pans out!
